Great hopes are pinned on the segment of photopolymer 3D printers, they allow you to create customized products for the individual needs of customers, to obtain high-precision results with minimal post-processing. The problem is the same – industrial photopolymer printers are still very expensive and only available for large enterprises.
Today we will tell you about 3D printers from Prismlab , new to our market , which print using the unique photopolymer technology MFP. A few words about the company
Prismlab is a large high-tech concern, founded in 1986, specializing in optomechatronics, the production of professional 3D printers and photopolymer resins, the development of software and hardware for computing systems. The company entered the 3D equipment market with its industrial 3D printers in 2013, but development and testing began long before that. MFP technology – what’s unique?
Prismlab RP series 3D printers can be called a breakthrough among photopolymer industrial printers. Primarily thanks to the unique MFP Technology developed and patented by Prismlab. The name stands for Pixel Resolution Enhancement Technology, translated as “Resolution Enhancement Technology.” This is a cross between DLP and LCD printing methods, with SLA there is also a similarity, but unlike the SLA method, where printing is done using a laser, in printers with MFP, the entire surface is matrix illuminated simultaneously. Due to this, the speed is significantly increased.

MFP technology has helped to dramatically increase print speed compared to other photopolymer printers without compromising print quality. By the way, the resolution ranges from 50 to 100 microns.
The MFP method consists in the layer-by-layer formation of models by means of photopolymerization of resins using a powerful LCD projector. The projector has an increased lifespan, which is definitely a plus for industrial scale manufacturing.
How do you achieve fast print speeds and maintain high resolution?
This is helped by a principle similar to e-shifting (optical shift technology developed by JVC), which increases the print resolution by doubling each pixel. For 4 flares, the resolution can be increased by 4, 9 and 16 times.
Interestingly, the projector is located on top of the printing chamber, the models are built from bottom to top, and it looks very impressive.
Another huge plus is that thanks to the printing technology, the models are smooth and practically do not require post-processing. This greatly facilitates and speeds up the production process.
There are only 5 printers in the RP line with different build areas. Let’s take a look at three senior representatives – RP300 , RP400 , RP600 .
All of them work according to the same principle, differ only in appearance, print size, and, accordingly, productivity.
Outwardly, printers are laconic and compact enough compared to many industrial 3D printers. At the bottom there is a removable photopolymer reservoir.
Above is the platform for building models, then the printing chamber. The projector (or rather the LCD panel) is installed on top.
The printers also have a built-in computer with a touch-screen, discreetly located at eye level. The printer stands on supports, but there are also casters for easy movement. A trifle, but nice)
The RP400’s design is different from its siblings. Made in the form of a space capsule, three-sided with beveled corners and interesting backlighting, the printer looks very impressive and modern.

Working with the printer

Using a computer, you can not only control and monitor the printing process, but also prepare a model through proprietary software. All files for printing can also be safely stored there. Computer memory is 4 GB, but there is also a 120 GB SSD disk. Video card – GTX750.
Prismlab Rapid 3D multifunctional software is a proprietary development of the company.
Prismlab printers are equipped with an intelligent temperature and humidity control system, which means that you do not need to monitor these parameters yourself.
Prismlab manufactures proprietary photopolymer resins at very competitive prices. Resins are supplied in cans in large volumes of 5 liters. At the moment, the company produces 4 types of photopolymers (about 8 colors) for different purposes: a standard resin with excellent surface quality of models for architecture, prototyping, production of presentation models, 2 types of flex polymers for creating flexible products and dental resin with perfect accuracy.
But, thanks to the open source code, you can use not only the recommended photopolymers, but also create profiles of materials from other manufacturers. Importantly, the terms of warranty service will not change.
